Commonly Asked Questions

What does hypnosis feel like?

First, you should understand that hypnosis is a natural state of the mind. When you are in this state, even though you have heightened awareness and/or attention, you are usually very relaxed and feeling wonderful. In most cases, this is a very pleasant state to be in. Each person experiences this hypnosis differently. Some feel deeply relaxed. Some experience a deep heaviness. Most are very calm. Some feel as though they are floating. You might even feel like you are daydreaming or meditating.

How will I know when I am hypnotized?

You may have to experience hypnosis several times for you to recognize that you have moved into another state. In fact, some new to this experience, will doubt that they have been hypnotized. This is because they remember everything that has been said to them; they never lose awareness of their surroundings. Even if you move into a very deep sleep-like state during hypnosis, you will still have the awareness of your surroundings and you will be able to hear all normal sounds around you.

Can anyone be hypnotized?

Since hypnosis is a completely natural state of the mind, anyone can be hypnotized. If you are receptive and desirous of change, you can move into this state of heightened relaxation. More importantly, anyone in a state of hypnosis can very easily and safely return to the normal awakened state.

Will I be in control of myself when hypnotized?

You are in complete control when hypnotized. No one, including the hypnotist can move you to do anything against your will. In fact, when you are in hypnosis, you are actually more in control because you have an increased level of inner awareness.

How many sessions will it take?

While every person is different and the severity of the problem varies, most people experience progress within two or three sessions. I can give a more accurate estimate with a brief consultation.
